L-Glutamic Acid

L-Glutamic acid is important to supply the body with the needed power. The evidence here is that Glutamine can delay fatigue through several mechanisms:

 (1) It is one of the most obvious glycogenic amino acids in humans and animals, having an important effect on the anaplerosis of the Krebs cycle and gluconeogenesis.

(2) Through the activation of glycogen synthase as glutamine stimulates glycogen synthesis effectively.

(3) Glutamine is also related to attenuation of muscle damage and is considered an indirect antioxidant through stimulation of glutathione synthesis. (20,21,22).


Glycine is also one of three amino acids that the human body utilizes to make a compound called creatine which supplies the muscles with energy to do quick, short bursts of activity, like weightlifting and sprinting.
